Our Tzalam box features a Tzalam wood appetizer board, from the Yucatan, with a matching knife and spreader, and an assortment of quality artisanal jams imported directly from Mexico. The Mexico inspired jam flavors of Guava, Hibiscus (Jamaica), Quince, and Jalapeño will elevate your appetizer tray to another level.

On the Mexican Caribbean peninsula, outside of the city of Merida, the Piste Brothers have been working the local wood of Dzityá, Yucatan for many generations. Known as the founders of the Collectivo de Artesanos de Dzityá, they’ve tried to bring prosperity to their town which was once well known for its canteros, aka stone workers. The wood indigenous to their land is unique in its beauty and form and master woodworkers: Luis, Marco, and Yoni learned from their father at an early age on the proper technique to work their local woods. Each piece is worked by hand and simple tools, with much of the shaping and forming done by hand.

Tzalam Cheese Tray, cheese knife, and jam spreader:

Tzalam, aka Mayan Walnut, is only grown in the Yucatan and has been used by locals for generations. Tzalam has variegated heartwood consisting of medium and light brown colorations with sporadic hues ranging between orange, amber, and red. The tray measures 13 in. x 6 in. and has a beveled edge to give it a touch of elegance. The matching knife and spreader measure 5 in.

Casa Market was born out of passion for their delectable fruit grown in their fields in Calvillo, Aguascalientes. They adhere to old-world recipes while using 21stcentury methods to create gourmet, natural products. Their guavas are renowned for their one-of-a-kind characteristics, the marmalade has a rich tantalizing flavor and irresistible aromas. The Hibiscus Marmalade exudes flavor of apples and berries but with a slightly tangy finish. The Quince is part of the apple and pear family and has similar flavors when it is cooked. The fruit exudes aromas of vanilla and apple, and with its high pectin content this fruit is particularly popular for use in jams, jellies, and preserves.
